3 Month Minimalism Rule
It’s a really easy way to kind of take your feelings out of the equation…
Right, from the off we’re focusing on the ‘stuff’ that you’re either not sure about getting rid of or you know you probably should let it go but there’s always some little voice inside that says you should keep it.
This is the barrier that stops a lot of people from realistically moving towards a less cluttered and more simple life.
The 3 Month Rule is something that The Minimalists talk about as a good strategy to keep things going, especially after you’ve taken part in the Minimalism Month…
It’s a very simple idea to implement especially when you’re having a clothing clear out…
So you’ve had a sort through some of your things, lets focus on clothing for this example..
You have:
A keep pile - Enjoy wearing these clothes all the time, they’re the go to outfits!
A donate/get rid of pile - Donate to charities where possible but I don’t think anyone wants your old tatty knickers any time soon so sure throw those!
A ? (unsure) pile - THIS is where we use the 3 Month Theory.
Now take a look at that pile you’re not sure about…
It’s pretty simple and really gets you to face up to those things that you’ve been keeping in the back of your wardrobe for years!
Remember these things you let go of can help others through donations or you can even sell them on sites like Depop or similar.
So give it a go next time you’re sorting through some of your ‘stuff’ and let me know how it goes in the comments below!
